Abstract

Fluid accumulation in the follicle leads to swelling of the follicle known as corpus luteum cyst. It is a normal, harmless, fluid-filled mass. A cyst form with the corpus luteum grows. Introduction
Corpus luteum cyst is a type of ovarian cyst.It is formed when ovulation occurs. The follicle turns into corpus luteum after it releases the egg. Corpus luteum does an important function during pregnancy. Corpus luteum produces progesterone that is required for the developing foetus. Sometimes after release of the egg, the follicle that turns into corpus luteum, sometimes filled with fluid due to sealing off the exit of the egg, results in corpus luteum cyst. Corpus luteum usually vanishes with each menstruation. It occur due to tridosha vitiation. This occurs due to metabolic disturbances due to pitta imbalance and srotas dushti or srotavrodha by kapha imbalance and vata vitiation.
