Ayurvedic Point of View

In Ayurveda, Vestibular Hypofunction is called Bhrama. It occurs due to Vata Prakopa. Poor eating habits, a disturbed lifestyle, and stress leading to the production of toxins and aggravation of vata. Due to Vata Prakop, there is an imbalance between the ear, brain, and muscles responsible for walking. There is vitiation of Pitta and Kapha due to aggravated Prana Vayu and Vyana Vayu leading to strotas dushti. The person enters a state of emptiness, loss of memory, loss of strength, falls on the ground, and then stands on his own after some time. Ayurveda takes a very holistic approach to manage Bhrama. Bhav Prakash Nighantu has mentioned many medicines to treat Bhrama.
