In this shloka definition of “Granthi” is explained.

The vitiated vata dosha affects the kapha, rakta, mamsa and meda dhatu which leads to the formation of circular and high snagged edema and is termed as granthi.

Diagnosis of breast cancer as early as possible gives a better chance of early and successful treatment. For that one has to know about healthy breast, i.e. how it look, felt in normal conditions.

 As Per Ayurveda Aspect

According to Ayurveda, there is vitiation  of tridoshas ( Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha) which when gets localized in mamasa dhatu (muscle fibers) of the body in turns gives rise to a  growth which is round, slightly painful, large that spreads in the body tissues but without any inflammation.

What is Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is defined as cancer that forms in the breast cells. After cervical cancer, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed in women. It can occur both in men as well as women.

How Breast Cancer Can be Caused?

At the puberty stage, a woman’s breast consists of fats, connective tissues and many tiny glands that produces milk for breastfeeding. In breast cancer, there is an uncontrollable multiplication of cells. Due to the excessive growth of cells cancer is caused.

Breast cancer develops in the inner lining of the lactiferous (milk) ducts which supplies the milk. It may spread to various body parts.

What are the Symptoms of Breast Cancer?

There are usually no signs and symptoms of early breast cancer, but sometimes there is a lump or mass will be present in the breast.

Other common symptoms include:

  • Pain in the breast or armpits that does not vary with the monthly cycle.
  • Redness near the affected area that looks like the skin of an orange.
  • Rash on or near one of the nipples
  • Bloody discharge from the nipples
  • Inverted or sunken nipple
  • The size and shape of the breast begin to change.
  • Scaly skin on the breast or on the nipples
  • Most of the lumps are non-cancerous, but females should have them checked by a health care professional.

What are the Stages of Breast Cancer?

Cancer stage is diagnosed according to the size of the tumor and whether it is spread to the lymph nodes or other body parts.

There are various stages of breast cancer:

Stage 0:

This stage is known as ductal carcinoma in situ and the cells are limited within the lactiferous ducts and have not spread to the surrounding tissues.

Stage 1:

In this stage, the tumor is up to 2 centimeters and lymph nodes remain unaffected.

Stage 2:

The size of the tumor is across 2 cm and starts spreading to the nearby nodes.

Stage 3:

The tumor’s size is up to 5 cm and that may spread to the lymph nodes.

Stage 4:

Cancer has spread to the various organs especially in the liver, brain, lungs or the bones.
