Pityriasis Rosea Symptoms, Diagnosis and Herbal Treatment
Abstract
Pityriasis rosea is a self-limited dermatosis. It is distinguished by salmon-coloured oval patches with a peripheral thin scale. It is usually found in the Christmas tree pattern. It mostly affects the person aged 10-35 years. A disease etiology was suspected but not confirmed. 80% of patients begin with a “herald patch” that usually has a single, well-defined, scaly, red plaque 2 to 6 cm in diameter. Days or weeks later, a rash appears, usually on the body or inside the flexor line. Individual lesions appear round or oval, slightly salmon-coloured, less than 2 cm in diameter, surrounded by cigarette-paper-like thin scales. The long axis of the oval is pointed along the cleavage line, so the disease of the body will appear first. Diseases occur gradually until they resolve within 2 to 14 weeks. Except in children, the hands, feet, and face are rarely affected.
