Pityriasis Rosea- Ayurvedic Aspect and Treatment
Abstract
Skin diseases are very embarrassing whether they are temporary or permanent. Pityriasis rosea is a skin disease that can compromise your skin’s beauty. The rashes are non-allergic and appear in response to viral infection. The infection occurs mostly in a healthy person between the age group of 10 to 35 years or is seen in a pregnant lady. Though the rashes may disappear within a few weeks in many cases they may persist too long up to 6 months. In this article, we will discuss various symptoms of this disease and treatment remedies in Ayurveda to avoid the usage of chemical-based steroids.
Introduction
Pityriasis rosea also known as Pityriasis rosea gibert is a large-sized skin rash spotted on particular areas like the chest, abdomen, and back. The rashes can also be seen on the scalp, groin region, and armpits but are rarely or not seen on the face. After exposure to the virus, the rashes begin as a pinkish patch called ‘herald’ that starts to spread to other body parts in the next 2 weeks. In the next few days, the pink spots are covered with fine scales that make the rashes look crinkled. The rashes need treatment or can also disappear after a particular period. These rashes can turn itchy and irritating to you. Unlike many other skin diseases, Pityriasis rosea is a non-contagious viral disease. Some precautions and supportive treatment can help to recover from the condition.

Various ayurvedic remedies and lifestyle modifications are recommended to manage such conditions. Mandala Kushtha is a subtype of kushtha that has similar causes but unique symptoms. The causes are many that imbalance the vatadi doshas in the body. But the main cause for such infections is said to be ‘poorvaj karmas’. Ignoring these symptoms can make your condition worse.
