Ayurvedic view

As per ayurveda Heart is considered as Hridya. It is a vital part of our body and all our vital parts consist of (prana) life force, if this life force is disturbed it leads to deformity or death. Hridya is considered as a location of oja (immunity of body). If the heart is not healthy our immunity will be deprived and it will lead to disease.

Role of tridosha in blood circulation:

  • Role of smana vata and vyan vata: The body fluids are acquired from the diet i.e. rasa (first dhatu). After the completion of digestion and absorption the food is changed into “rasa” which carry nutrition to all the body tissues. Rasa (fluid) formed in the intestine passes into blood vessels and then to hridya with the help of smana vayu (balancing air of the body). From hridya, fluid is pumped into main capillaries by vyan vayu (outward moving air). And the circulation is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (smana and vyan vayu). From capillaries rasa enters into body tissues and cells.
  • Role of avlambhaka kapha and udana vata: help in providing an environment heart pumps effortlessly. With vyan vayu these two subtypes also play a very important role in blood circulation.
  • Role of ranjaka pitta: it provides repel and propulsion required for the blood, and natural heat to the blood to move around as heat has the tendency to push. This subtype of pitta provides color to the rasa (fluid) and converts it into the blood tissue. So all the tridosha should be balanced to have a healthy heart.
