मेघांबुशीतप्राग्वाते: श्लेषमलैश्चअभिवर्धते।सयाप्यस्तमकश्वास: साध्योवास्यान्नवोत्थित।
इतितमकश्वास: ।च।चि१७/६२
This shloka of charak states that clouds, water, cold environment, west air, and eating Kapha predominating food items cause an increase in cough. These all reasons makes tamak shwasa (asthma) which will take some time for proper treatment. If tamak shwasa was (asthma) is from one year or less than one year in a person then treatment is easily done.
प्रतिलोमंयदावायु: स्त्रोतांसिप्रतिपद्यते।ग्रीवांशिरश्चसंगृह्रश्लेषमाणंसमुदीर्यच।
करोतिपीनसंतेनरुद्धोघुघुररुकमतथा।अतीवतीव्रवेगंचश्वासंप्राणप्रपीड़कम।च. चि१७/५६।
प्रतामयत्यतिवेगांचकासतेसन्निरुध्यते।प्रमोहंकासमानश्चसगच्छतिमुहुमुर्हु।च. चि१७/५७।
These two shlokas are of tamaka shwasa (Asthma) that tells that when there is an obstruction in respiratory channels then aggravated Vata (air) moves in the opposite direction in the lungs. Neck, head struck down that aggravates Kapha and causes penus (nose) disease. The Vata in the throat that is struck due to Kapha causes sound, it causes an increase in the breathlessness. When breathlessness occurs in excess it causes deformity in the body. Every time a cough comes out with the sputum.
