1. Treatment includes antibiotics and supportive care. When it is treated early and aggressively then the chances of recovery become good but the risk of permanent residual kidney and liver damage persists.

Preventive measures include washing hands after handling your pet, if the dog urinates in the house, clean it quickly, avoid direct skin contact with dog’s urine, don’t let your dog urinate in or near water bodies and keep your pet in touch with a veterinarian.
