Introduction

A molar pregnancy is a gestational trophoblastic condition that is characterised by proliferated placental tissue after abnormal fertilisation of an empty ovum with one or two sperm. When an empty ovum with one sperm leads to a complete mole and no foetus and when an empty ovum fertilised with two sperm then it leads to a partial mole and the foetus is present. Complete hydatidiform moles are androgenic diploid conception whereas partial hydatidiform moles are dispermic triploid conception.  Both partial and complete hydatidiform moles have two paternal chromosomes and expression of paternally derived genes predominates. Both partial and complete hydatidiform moles can lead to increased chances of future hydatidiform moles.  In Ayurveda, it can be correlated with beej dushti. Vata and pitta dosha vitiation usually lead to beej dushti and other genetic conditions.
