Abstract

Introduction
Stargardt disease is a rare genetic disorder of the eye, in which there is a build-up of fatty material on the macula. It is an inherited single-gene retinal disease with an Autosomal recessive inheritance pattern. Mostly children, teenagers, and young adults are prone to this disease. Usually, genes from parents are passed on to children. In this disorder, there is a yellowish fleck that is lipofuscin in the macula. Lipofuscin is a fat deposit built more prominently in Stargardt disease. The only cause of Stargardt disease is genetic changes in the ABCA4 gene.
