The main thing we can do as a preventive measure is by eating a healthy diet. If you are at home it doesn’t mean that you get a certificate to eat fried food or spicy food. A big no to this kind of food. As it can hamper your digestion and eventually the immunity so one needs to be careful about diet. Focus on veggies and fruits. Try to eat simple food. People Who have allergic issues stay away from that type of food which can trigger their symptoms. The strong immunity is needed for the hour. Foods like spinach, green tea, sunflower seeds are must that you should include into your diet. Do not be lazy, stay active and destress yourself. Take one cup of water in a pan and add 1/ 2 tsp of jaggery ( Avoid refined sugar or completely skip sweetener). Once water comes to boiling point add freshly grated pieces of ginger. And in the last add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder. Boil for one or two minutes. Strain the mixture and enjoy turmeric tea. This tea not only enhances immunity, but can also be given to your elder ones who are suffering from arthritis. It will help to reduce pain and swelling around joints.
- Ginger Tea – Ginger tea is very common and loaded with multiple health benefits. Take one cup of water and add freshly chopped ginger. Boil this mixture, once it starts boiling add ⅛ part cardamom powder. You can also add jaggery or honey. Strain the mixture and drink this tea on a daily basis for better health. Ginger tea has health benefits such as strengthening immunity, best remedy to treat cold and cough, helps to ease period pain, relieves stress and aids digestion.
- Buttermilk- buttermilk is a classic remedy which is loved by all. This recipe is best for summers. It has cooling effects and it also aids digestion. Take one cup of curd and add ½ tsp cumin powder, black salt as required, a few coriander leaves, mint leaves and cup of water. Take all the ingredients and blend in a mixture. Blend it till the mixture becomes frothy. Pour in a glass and it is ready to serve. Buttermilk is a good source of vitamin D and calcium. If someone gets inflamed gums it works wonderfully to reduce inflammation. It is also good for people who have high blood pressure and raised cholesterol level. You can have buttermilk twice weekly.
The most common problem people can face during lockdown is indigestion. As our activity level is reduced, so people may suffer from this. It’s easy to deal with it. Fennel seeds are very effective and work for this kind of situation. All you have to do is simply chew 1 tsp fennel seeds or make a decoction. You can take 1 tsp of fennel seeds and boil them in one cup of water. Strain the mixture and drink it two times a day. You will get relief from stomach upset.
Carom seeds are another ingredient which we can use at home to get relief from bloating. These seeds increase gastric acid secretions. Due to their carminative and antispasmodic properties provide relief from flatulence and bloating. Consume half teaspoon of carom seeds after every meal. If you are suffering from stomach pain then you can boil 1 tsp of seeds in a one cup of water. Bring it to boil and allow to cool down. You can have this drink after every meal.
Asatoefifa supports and promotes secretion of gastric juices and prevents heartburn and bloating. Add a pinch of asafoetida in a glass of water and mix well. Drink this mixture once or twice daily for better results.
Constipation is real torture to people, who are suffering on regular basis can understand the pain. The basic cause behind constipation is lack of fluids. Start your day with a glass of warm lemon water. Another effective remedy is consume dates with milk. Soak oats overnight and squash them in morning time. Consume dates with milk daily for one week. The best way is to stay hydrated and eat a more fibre rich diet.
Headaches are really exhausting and they can hamper your daily activity. You can deal with headaches with the help of mint leaves. Mint leaves have a soothing effect on the mind. You can consume them in raw state for extra relief. Headache can be a sign of dehydration so always stay hydrated and drink 5 to 7 glasses of water. You can also make ginger paste at home and apply on forehead, it will give you instant relief from headache. Basil tea is also good to combat headache at home. Boil 3 to 4 basil leaves in a one cup of water and drink it in order to get rid of headache.
Earache is another common problem that can be managed at home. Fry 2 to 3 garlic cloves in oil and add a few drops of this oil in the ear once it comes down to room temperature.
We can manage fever with home remedies. Basil and garlic are the most important herbs which have antibacterial properties and they can easily manage fever. You can take basil in the form of basil tea. For garlic consumption, crush one garlic clove And mix in one glass of water. Keep it for a few minutes and strain and drink this mixture to get rid of fever. Hydration is very important to cure fever. Drink 11 to 12 glasses of water as fever can cause dehydration.
Bee stings are quite painful, and what if someone got a bee sting during this lockdown? First of all do not panic, you can manage this condition at home. Firstly you need to remove sting with the help of a sharp edged object. Once it is removed you can apply coconut oil mixed with garlic cloves. Heat coconut oil on low flame and add a few garlic cloves. Use this oil locally over the affected area and keep it until you wash that area.
You have a toothache but you can’t go to a dentist right away. You can chew garlic clove to get rid of toothache. You can also use dry whole cloves. Keep one clove in your mouth to get rid of pain.
