Best Herbal Remedy for Liver Diseases
Livo Plan Syrup of Planet Ayurveda is an ayurvedic formulation which is formed by the extract of natural herbs. This syrup contains extract of 10 herbs which are useful in treating liver-related disorders.

Meaning
When the disease is manifested, the patient suffers from tinnitus, low digestion process, debility, malaise, fatigue, body aches, fever, dyspnoea, heaviness, and anorexia. The patient feels as if his limbs are pressed or kneaded. Swelling near eyes, greenish skin discoloration, loss of luster, irritability, cold intolerance, excessive sleep, pain in thighs, waist, and legs.
Liver Introduction
The liver is one of the most important organs of the body and its failure affects every organ and tissue of the body. These natural extracts exhibit hepatoprotective properties against chemically-induced hepatotoxicity. Its anti-peroxide activity prevents the loss of functional integrity of the cell membrane and restores the hepatic functions in infective hepatitis. This syrup arrests the progression of liver cirrhosis and prevents the liver from further damage.
In anorexia, it is used as a health supplement that improves the appetite and increases digestive fire. This syrup normalizes the appetite-satiety rhythm.
1. Bhringaraj
Bhringaraj is also known as Eclipta alba and it has been used in Ayurveda since ancient times for medicinal purposes. Being a liver cleanser, this herb may reduce the effects caused by modern medicines. It has a very good effect on the liver and it also pacifies pitta dosha as the main seat of the liver is pitta. Other than the liver, it also has a very good role in kidney diseases. In nephrotic syndrome, protein comes out of urine which is related to prime in Ayurveda, Bhringraj tackles the situation very effectively.
2. Kesaraj
Kesaraj / Bhringraj, also known as Eclipta prostrata, it is an effective herb that balances the pitta dosha in the body. The paste of its leaves is used in baldness. The liver is the main site of the body’s metabolism and Bhringraj is used to improve liver metabolism. Its extract shows very effective results to promote hair growth. It eliminates toxins from the body and regenerates the liver cells and prevents liver failure.
3. Yashtimadhu
Yashtimadhu (Mulethi), also known as Glycyrrhiza glabra is very useful in the kitchen. The health benefits of yashtimadhu are described in Ayurveda many years ago. This herb has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-arthritic, anti-asthmatic, antibacterial and aphrodisiac properties. It has a soothing effect on the throat and pharynx that provides relief in hoarseness of voice. Roots of yashtimadhu contain an active compound called glycyrrhizin which is rich in magnesium and calcium. It supports the good health of the liver and also enhances the secretion of bile. Being a hormonal balancer, this herb is good for the treatment of hypothyroidism that increases the secretion of thyroid hormones.
4. Gokshur
Gokshur is an effective Ayurvedic herb used in the treatment of liver disease. This herb is also known as Tribulus Terrestris. In modern days, it is used for bodybuilding and to relieve diseases related to the urogenital system. It has a cleansing effect on the urinary system and acts as a diuretic in urinary calculus. It is also used in the treatment of ascites, dysuria, diabetes, and menorrhagia.
5. Bhoonimba
Bhoonimba is also known as Swertia chirata and it has a hepatoprotective property that helps in maintaining the overall health of the liver. This herb removes the toxins from the body and regenerates the new liver cells. Being an anti-diabetic, this herb maintains the blood sugar levels in the body. This herb is effective against worm infestation such as roundworms, tapeworms, and fluke. It also provides relief in other symptoms like indigestion, abdominal bloating and flatulence, peptic ulcers, gastritis, etc.
6. Guduchi
Guduchi is also known as Tinospora cordifolia. As mentioned in Ayurveda, it helps to maintain the balance between basic ailments of the body i.e., dosha, dhatu, and mala. This herb acts as an immune booster and eliminates toxins from the body. Giloy (Guduchi) shows effective results in the treatment of various skin disorders like redness, swelling, inflammation, and tenderness. Roots of giloy are emetic in nature and treat bowel obstructions. It pacifies Vata, pitta, and Kapha. This herb is considered as a brain tonic because it contains a chemical compound that helps to relieve stress.
7. Kakamachi
Kakamachi is one of the most effective herbs used in Ayurveda and is known as Solanum nigrum. A decoction is prepared from the leaves of this herb and is used to treat hepatomegaly and splenomegaly. This herb regenerates the liver cells and helps to prevent liver failure. It rejuvenates the liver and reduces the effect of some modern medicines. A paste of its leaves is useful in skin diseases like vitiligo, scabies, etc.
8. Eranda
Eranda is known as Ricinus communis, it pacifies the Vata dosha and treats the abdominal tumors, spleen and liver enlargement. Its fruits are pungent in taste and stimulate the digestive fire. Seeds of this herb are useful in abdominal ailments and purgation.
9. Sarapunkha
Sarapunkha is also called as Tephrosia purpurea and is an effective herb used in the treatment of liver cirrhosis. This herb detoxifies the liver and regenerates the new liver cells. It is quite effective to manage splenomegaly. It also manages the symptoms such as weakness, swelling, pain, itching and pedal edema. It also provides strength to the kidneys and aids in the elimination of toxins from the body.
10. Kasni
The Latin name of kasni is Cichorium intybus. This herb is known as “syrup of wild cherries”. It promotes the health of the circulatory system and also helps in maintaining the functions of the liver. It is an effective herb that protects the liver and is effective in all types of liver disorders. Its laxative effect helps in providing relief from constipation. Being coolant in nature, it reduces the body’s heat and maintains body temperature.
