Morbius Syndrome – Causes, Symptoms & Ayurvedic Treatment
Abstract
Moebius syndrome is a rare mental disorder that occurs as a result of weakness or paralysis of many nerves, especially the sixth (abducens) and seventh (facial) nerves. Other cranial nerves are also sometimes affected. The problem is present at birth (congenital). If the seventh nerve is affected, people with Moebius syndrome cannot smile, frown, lift their lips, raise their eyebrows, or close their eyes. If the sixth nerve is affected, the eye cannot protrude beyond the center. Other abnormalities include poor development of the pectoral muscles and leg defects. Moebius Syndrome is not progressive. The reason is unclear. It often appears to happen randomly. It was first described by Von Graefe in 1880 and Moebius in 1888.

Ayurvedic Aspect Of Moebius Syndrome
In Ayurveda, Moebius syndrome is correlated with vitiated vata dosha. Vata dosha mainly affects the nervous system. When the vata dosha is vitiated, it moves to the wrong path and conflicts the body with disorders according to their location and functions. Vata intensifies and weakens the body due to the presence of pathogenic organisms, thereby forming various diseases related to all or part of the body.
Samprapti of Vata dosha
Due to Dhatu kshaya, the channel becomes empty and Vata gets vitiated. This can cause many neurological diseases because of the degenerative changes in the nervous system.
