Introduction
Kidney diseases are an inscription to the number of kidney disorders like- renal colic, polycystic kidney, renal calculus (stones), pyelonephritis, cystinosis, IgA Nephropathy, renal fusion, ectopic kidney, amyloidosis, etc, and some rare kidney diseases. Long-term kidney problems can also lead to urinary and other adjacent organs inflammation, infection, and dysfunction. Along with diabetic and high BP patients, heart patients and obese people are also at risk of developing kidney problems.

Acute kidney problems when not diagnosed and treated timely, convert into chronic kidney diseases and ultimately can lead to kidney failure.
Ayurvedic Aspect
As per the ayurvedic concept, Vrik (kidneys) is considered the most important component of Mutrveh Strotas (Renal system). Any disbalance in tridoshas leads to disturbance in kidney functions which ultimately hinders the normal functioning of the whole renal system. The main cause of prakop (provoke) of doshas is practicing unhealthy food habits and lifestyle. Various kidney diseases are detailed by the acharyas including – Vrik granthi (nephroblastoma), Vrik arbud (kidney tumor), Vrik shoth (acute pyelitis), Vrik vidridhi ( pyonephritis), Vrik shool (renal colic) and many more. For particular kidney disease, different samprapti (pathogenesis) have been very clearly defined by the acharyas in Vedas. According to the predominance of doshas in Mutrveh Strotas and Basti Pradesh (renal and urinary system), the Rog ( diseases) vary.
